Patriotic Boat Parade

The next Patriotic Boat Parade will be held at Plum Branch Yacht Club on Saturday, 6 July 2019. As was the case during last year’s Independence Day Celebration, this year’s parade will be hosted by the America’s Boating Club at Thurmond Lake, and part of a day long cooperative effort between us and the Plum Branch Yacht Club and the McCormick County Chamber of Commerce. This will be a family oriented event including entertainment, food, games and evening fireworks, in addition to the boat parade.

Registration no later than noon on the previous day (Friday, 5 July, 2019) will be required to participate and be eligible for prizes for the boat parade. A point of contact for registration is Dave Kelley, email davebkelley@gmail.com or (864) 391-8173.

There is no fee to register a boat for the parade.

Required registration information will include name(s) of boat operator, make/model of boat, and city/state of residence, phone number and email address of the registrant. Registrants may be contacted in case of any required changes, or to gather additional information from prize winners for publication in local media.

Boat operators will be given a registration number upon registration. The number needs to be printed in bold, black letters on a white background (paper pie plate, stiff paper/cardboard, etc.) and displayed as the boat passes by the judging station.

Registered boats will need to gather at buoy SR-62 at approximately 12:30 on the day of the parade. A Power Squadron boat will lead the parade past the judging dock. Prizes will be awarded at the Plum Branch Yacht Club pavilion after scores are tallied, probably around 2:00pm (depending on the number of boats in the parade).
