Boating is fun, we’ll show you how.
Welcome to the Thurmond Lake Sail and Power Squadron, chartered in the year 2000, a unit in District 26 of the United States Power Squadron. Our mission includes the promotion of boating safety, boating education, civic service and the enjoyment of boating activities and social functions among our membership.
Becoming a member of the Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron (TLS&PS) is very easy. First you might want to attend a function to see what we are all about. Contact any member to secure a reservation. Next, take our introductory boating class, America’s Boating Course, which is offered for only the cost of the book. This class is easy, fun, and provides knowledge for safety on the water. Dues are $76.50 a year for a single or $122.50 a year for a couple. The first year of membership will be extended to 18 months. When you become a member you will receive a free meal at the first function that you attend.
Thurmond Lake is located in a rural area on the Savannah River. The closest towns are Abbeville and McCormick in South Carolina and Lincolnton in Georgia. The lake has an area of 70,000 acres and 1200 miles of shoreline in Sumter National Forest. It abounds with good fishing, boating and wonderful people.
